And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? (Genesis 18: 22-25). And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. Wickedness and sinfulness is on the increase promoted and advertised by the media, sponsored and approved by our very governments.Ībraham in his plea to God for Sodom confirmed that the people of Sodom were wicked. And that without any exaggeration the same can well be said of the world where we live today.
So they were enemies and the opposite of everything called godliness and morality. So their wickedness and sinfulness was so high, it exceeded the norm. They were not just sinners, but exceedingly. The very first thing that is said of Sodom in Scriptures is that the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. So let's consider the society where Lot dwelt and why he was asked so urgently to escape for his life. You may as well be very sincere and serious, yet escaping from life to death. Early in the morning after Christ had resurrected and left the grave, a group of serious-minded woman came in search of Him, and the angels asked them a very pathetic question Why do you seek the living among the dead?. It is highly important to know why we are escaping, what we are escaping from and where we're escaping to, so that you don't run from the stream to the ocean in search of safety. What or where are we escaping from? And where are escaping to? And how are to escape? When we talk of escape we must understand what we are talking about in order to duly appreciate the issue at hand. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.Ģ Thes 1: 7-9 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Luk 17: 26-30 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Mat 24: 30-31 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Gen 19: 12-13 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it. Gen 18: 20-22 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me and if not, I will know. But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. Gen 13: 12-13 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. Scriptures point to the fact that the last, are similar to Lot's days in Sodom and we are doubtless in the last days
